Reverend Dierdre L. ThomsonRev Dierdre Thomson

During the month of May, 2011, The Rev. Dierdre L. Thomson began her duties as the new Interim Pastor of the Rossmoor Community Church and has been preaching and meeting with her congregants.

She brings to us experience as a hospice chaplain, parish associate, and interim pastor. She has worked with the Presbytery of Monmouth, serving as both vice-moderator and moderator.

Rev. Thomson is a graduate of New Brunswick Theological Seminary where she received her Master of Divinity in 1996. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Metro-Urban Ministry.

Upon a call to the VNA Hospice of Central NJ, she was ordained in 1997 as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church, USA.

Rev. Thomson comes to this church as a trained Stephen Minister leader. Last year, the Rossmoor Community Church took the first steps toward developing a Stephen Ministry program where trained men and women bring Christian love and caring to "hurting" members of our community. Laymen undergo a 50-hour training program to equip them to provide Christian care to those in our congregation dealing with life issues such as grief, illness or loneliness.

Rev. Thomson's experience should prove to be an asset as the Church continues to develop this program

For over 40 years, The Rossmoor Community Church has served as a unique example of Christian unity. Each Sunday morning at 11 AM Christians from at least nine different denominations gather to share their faith at the Rossmoor Meeting House. Our prayer for the Church is a prayer for oneness, that our fellowship will be open to the values, ideals and traditions that have sustained our Christian faith over the years.
